LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. — A 9-year Lake Worth Beach boy is proving that his disability won’t stop him from his passion.

Miles Hoyt was diagnosed with

Stargardt disease

at just 6-years old. It’s a pediatric form of macular degeneration and his eyesight degrades each year to the point of total blindness.

WPTV first met Miles last summer

. His condition with sight has since worsened.

“My eyes have been going downhill a lot in the past year,” he said.

But he also happens to be a prodigy at the guitar and has worked hard to learn every note through feeling.

“Don’t let your disabilities stop you,” he said. “I don’t need to look because I got my ears!”

On Saturday, he’s hosting a fundraiser for the program helping him through his journey, the

Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches

.

He’s planning a concert with other musicians. Take a listen to his incredible skill:

The “Smiles for Miles” fundraiser is Saturday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rudy’s Pub in Lake Worth. Families and children are welcome.
