Blue light is getting a lot of attention these days, and too many hours of screen time are to blame. This high-energy visible (HEV) light is emitted by the sun as well, but man-made, indoor sources such as computer, phone and tablet screens are raising concern among all sorts of medical professionals because of the large amounts of time we spend with this sources in very close proximity to our eyes and faces. Hence, a slew of products designed to minimize blue light exposure—and spare our eyes, skin and sleep from the negative side effects.

Blue light glasses
Blue light has been linked to eye strain, macular degeneration and disturbed sleep rhythms, but you can protect yourself with special glasses. Available for those with 20-20 vision (and as an add-on lens coating for those who wear specific glasses), these specialized specs reduce the amount of blue light that reaches the eyes—and they can even be cute! Milly Bobby Brown and Lucy Hale have been spotted in The Book Club Eyewear, while Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez prefer to protect their peepers with Quay.

Make Beauty Moonlight Primer
If you wear makeup while sitting in front of the computer all day, you may want to consider this primer. Formulated to protect skin from HEV light (although you still need to use sunscreen), the hydrating, silicone-free gel-cream formula leaves skin with a matte finish that helps soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles—and helps your makeup stay put.

Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40
Serving up a high level of UV protection in a velvety, oil-free formula that disappears into the skin, this sunscreen also shields skin from blue light thanks to the addition of red algae. This daily-use SPF is also enriched with antioxidants plus soothing frankincense and a hydrating meadowseed foam complex.

SkinMedica LUMIVIVE System
Designed to protect skin from blue light, pollution and other age-advancing aggressors by day, and enhance the skin’s natural repair by night, this dynamic duo provides around-the-clock benefits. The Day Damage Defense Serum features a potent blend of theobroma cacao seed extract, alteramonas ferment extract and bioflavonoid antioxidants, while the Night Revitalize Repair Complex contains cell-fueling mitoquinol mesylate, mirabilis jalapa callus extract and a unique pentapeptide—and the formulas have been clinically proven to improve overall skin tone in eight weeks and improve radiance, redness and skin discoloration in 12 weeks.
