CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (WCHS/WVAH) — A Boyd County Detention Center supervisor was terminated and an additional inmate was charged following the accidental release of another inmate earlier this week.
Jailer Bill Hensley said the supervisor was let go because he did not follow proper protocol that led to the accidental release of inmate James Brewer Tuesday. Hensley said the supervisor was fired for that incident and some previous incidents at the detention center. The guard will not face charges.
Inmate Todd Anthony Lesniak, 35, of Ashland was charged with facilitation and conspiracy to escape in connection to Brewer’s escape, Hensley said. Lesniak gave Brewer his identification bracelet and information to help facilitate his escape, according to Hensley.
Hensley said there has since been changes made to the facility and more changes to come to help combat human error.
