The Cheshire Lions Club will hold its annual Sight Saver Day at the entrance of Stop & Shop, 275 Highland Ave., on Sunday, Oct. 14, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The fundraiser collects money to support the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation (CLERF) and the Cheshire Lions Club community projects, as well as donations to other civic causes.
Since 1949, the Cheshire Lions Club has been a major community organization in Cheshire. CLERF provides financial support to Yale University’s Department of Opthalmology and Visual Science and the University of Connecticut Medical Center for research and treatment of eye diseases, including macular degeneration and glaucoma.
Tax-deductible donations may also be made payable to Cheshire Lions Club Foundation, and mailed to P.O. Box 175, Cheshire, CT. 06410.
Lions will also be collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids, which will be refurbished and distributed to individuals in need.Lions
